• Research areas: analysis of local food processes, intelligent systems for process control, exploitation of human expertise, sensory evaluation during production, technological properties of local food, sorting and drying of local fruits and vegetables.
  • Short biography: Roch Edoura-Gaena holds a PhD in Food Process Engineering defended in 2005 with honors at the University of Clermont-Ferrand II, France. His PhD research work focused on the analysis and design of support systems for the control of continuous and discontinuous mixing operations of biscuit doughs. Roch Edoura-Gaena is very interested in issues related to the industrialization of local african products and processes: determination of quality targets, determination of technological properties and operating conditions for processing local bioresources. He is particularly interested in the development of intelligent systems to support the control of post-harvest pretreatment and drying operations for local fruits and vegetables. Roch Edoura-Gaena is currently Lecturer at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure Polytechnique (ENSP) of the Marien Ngouabi University in Congo (Brazzaville) where he teaches theoretical and practical courses in: heat transfer, unit operations, preservation processes, process modeling and simulation and process design. He is currently taking part in the setting up of a university center for the transformation of bioresources at UMNG, which will work for the valuation and improvement of the local transformation of bioresources in the Congo, through technical support to (i) applied research, (ii) initial and continuing training and (iii) to project leaders and entrepreneurs, in the field of bioresource processing. Roch Edoura-Gaena has published 5 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, 3 papers in national and international conferences and participated 1 book chapter.
